CMP-Neu5Az is a CMP-activated sialic acid analogue with an N-azidoacetyl substituent. The azide enables subsequent conjugation to suitable reporters following enzymatic transfer. It differs from CMP-9-azido-Neu5Ac, which places the azide at C9.
